Erin's Special Needs Trust Fund

Donation protected

James and I were blessed with Erin in July 2006.  After two weeks in the NICU with sepsis and a diagnosis of Microcephaly, we got to bring her home.  In her early years Erin saw many specialists:  cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, genetics, optometry...and therapists:  physical, occupational, vision, speech, orientation and mobility...

We have learned that Erin has optic nerve hypoplasia and a syndrome, which, as-of-yet, the genetic testing cannot name.  She has a seizure disorder as well, and we are thankful that with medication, she has been seizure-free for almost 3 years.  From the beginning Erin has been a blessing to us, our son, McKellan, and all who meet her; she is loving, social, funny....  Erin loves to sing, dance, hug, kiss, and snuggle.

Erin continues to see specialists, but thankfully, fewer than in the early years:  genetics, endocrinology, neurology, optometry...   and therapists:  speech, occupational, vision...

We know that Erin will never be able to live independently, and pray that her brother will have a heart to take care of her.  We pray, too, for McKellan's future wife, should the Lord have marriage in His plan for McKellan, and that she, too, would desire to care for Erin.

Erin LOVES animals, especially horses (she used to ride in therapy).  I see her one day working in an animal-related position, maybe grooming horses, or tending soft critters in a shelter situation....

Because we are older parents, James (60) and I (44)  worry about what will become of Erin when we are in heaven.  James, a school teacher, has tried to start a house "flipping" business, which has yet to get off the ground.

I am a stay at home mom, homeschooling our son.  Working outside the home is out of the question due to all of Erin's medical appointments and therapy sessions.

Our goal is to provide a trust for her so that she may be WELL cared for in our absense, without having to be placed in an institution.
