In recognition of 20 years of faithful services of Lotus Children's Center, our team of Global Reach, Denver based nonprofit organization, dedicates this fundraising to a loving mother who is saving and raising over 150 orphan children in Mongolia.
It is our goal to raise $1,000 to contribute in Gabriel Dowling, known as Didi Ananda Kalika's effort to build a new library/educational resources for her children in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Once we reach our goal, we will be honored to deliver your donations in person on June 1st, 2015 -Mothers and Children's Holiday - a widely celebrated annual holiday in Mongolia. Updates will be posted accordingly.

It is truly comforting to see smiling and happy kids being raised by a loving mother with merciful heart. Gabriel Dowling is a remarkable and selfless woman we as Mongolians ever known on earth who has dedicated the last 21 years of her life to helping over 150 neglected children in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Regardless of not only economic hardship of the country but also social, cultural and climate differences she unconditinally offers nurturing love and safe environment to those vulnerable children. In 1993, Didi Kalika was sent to Ulaanbaatar by Ananda Marga to work as a yoga and meditation teacher. While in the city, she saw first-hand the troubles faced by children living in the streets, especially during the winter when temperatures can fall to minus 40 degrees Celsius.
At first, Didi Ananda Kalika started to provide food and basic medical care, but after realizing that more was necessary, she and a few caring friends started the Lotus Children’s Center in 1995 to help improve the lives of these children which provides shelter and food for 150 children and abandoned babies, including those with disabilities. Over the years her mission was expanded, her today's goal is not only to meet the children’s physical needs, but also to help free them from the poverty cycle by giving a quality education, counseling, and life skills. The Center also helps the youngsters to find suitable employment later on or placement in higher education.

Starting from a single apartment Lotus has grown to house, feed, care for and educate 80 children. At one stage Lotus was caring for around 150 children including many abandoned babies. Now the economic situation in Mongolia is better and babies are abandoned less and less. This is reflected in the ages of the children in the care of Lotus, that in 2012 ranged from 4 to 20 years old. Lotus Children’s Centre is now focusing on ensuring that the children who have lived in care since they were babies have a good chance at life, so endeavour to support them until they can stand on their own two feet..."
