Jr. Martinez Funding

Hi my name is Darline. My family and I just lost a loved one. His name is JR. Martinez only 9 years old. We will be celebrating his 10th birthday April 5th.  A deah of a child is never planned. And we are in need of any help to lay my nephew to rest.

Jr. passed away Monday  night March 23rd, due to lung failure.  His mother and the rest of the family are devastated.  What we thought was just a regular flu turned to be much more then that.

Monday March 16 as Jrs. mother Amber is getting ready for work she noticed his breathing sounded not so right.  She woke him up and he had a fever. She stood home from work to care for him. Instead of waiting till 9am to rush him to the urgent care she took him to the ER. Right away they rushed him to the back. They told Amber he has strep throat, pneumonia, and a virus in his lungs (coronavirus).

The doctors are doing what they can and Jr. is not having it. He doesnt want the oxygen mask on him he just wants to go home. He then was transfered Monday night  to another hospital in Santa Barbara (ICU). Where they put him into a coma along with life support, because his lungs where filled with fluid.

On the thrid day of being in the hopsital he was given a bone marrow. And early morning Thursday he was diagnosed with myeloid leukemia acute cancer. The doctors want to start chemo as soon as possible. The next day they did. Jrs. immune system is already weak to begin with and chemo makes it weaker.  He's on 100% oxygen and he needs to be at 90 or higher and his level was at 80.

The fifth night and second day of chemo. Amber gets a phone call from the nurse upstairs saying his oxgyen levels have dropped to 30. As she rushes back to her son they started to go back up. It was like he was scared and wanting to hear his mommies voice. The doctors switched him to a bigger oxgyen machine that expand his lungs better. It broke.

He is back on the ventilator. His oxgyen levels where now at 79.The nurse told her he can drop again.  Never loosing faith Amber decided it was time to dedicate Jr. with God. That same day God decided it was time to take him home.

Jr. fought a good fight. He is no longer struggling to hold on.  The cancer didn't take him down it was his lungs that the virus attacked.

He left behind his Mother Amber and three sisters. Along with everyone else who loved and adored him.

Any donations will help our family. We appreciate your time and concern. Thank you from Amber Cota (mother), Violette Martinez (sister), Cienna Martienz (sister), Hazel Martienz (sister) and the rest of the Cota family.
