WE ARE.. Penn State Club Wrestling!
Here at University Park, we aim to be the premier example of what hard work, dedication and fun can get you. With the defending 4-time NCAA Div.1 Champs on the same campus, we commonly play second fiddle - but we want people to know who we are, and what we're about.
We have a room full of hard-nosed wrestlers from around the nation who still have a love for the sport, but are not able to compete at the next level for whatever reason. We are the athletes who might not have ended their careers the way they wanted. We are the students who couldn't afford to attend a school with less funding. We are the wrestlers that want to win a national title, but still want to have fun with the sport we've grown up loving.
After taking a one-year hiatus from competition due to lack of funds, we are looking to storm back onto the NCWA scene. From the bottom of our line-up to the top, we have potential NCWA National Placers, and are definitely priming ourselves for a run at the first ever NCWA Team Trophy for Penn State. Unfortunately, due to a uniform compliance rule now in effect, we needed to get new singlets, which drained our coffers, leaving us with little to no money for tournaments, transportation or gear.
We are actively engaging in the community in order to fundraise for both the Club's endeavors and THON, but with the first competition of the season less than 3 weeks away, it is very unlikely that we can raise everything alone. Any help at all would be appreciated - just $30 assures that another wrestler will get to compete for the season.
