CONTEXT

Hi everyone, you may or may not have heard but our wonderful Pembrokeshire Parkour club has had to shut down due to Pembroke Comprehensive moving location into a brand new venue.

We had a Parkour community of over 50 members that regularly attended our novice, enthusiast and advanced classes, all of whom benefited from all the physical and mental health benefits that came from regular exercise so in an attempt to continue providing Parkour sessions and in calculating the best and most sustainable way to stop this ever happening again I have decided to try and raise  money for a large, reliable Van.  I already have a large resource of equipment (from my Academy in Carmarthenshire) and qualified instructors at my disposal. The costs involved to find and hire another local facility with equipment already provided is not only risky (as we've found out with our previous facility) but also substantially more expensive which would then become reflective in the membership charges. Obviously I want to keep member prices as low as possible.

-

A van would solve all these problems as I could literally take the sessions to the communities as well as help the local economy's by hiring local community halls and offering workshops at the smaller community events in your local areas. Also, the lower annual operational costs would be substantially smaller which again, would be reflective in session costs.

So lets add some statistics.  According to Welsh Assembly Government's Climbing Higher initiative, a target has been set for at least 90% of boys and girls to participate in sport and physical activity for at least 60 minutes, five times a week.  With that target in mind, local authorities throughout Wales have set a standard through Dragons Sports and 5x60 programmes along with a commitment to introduce and utilise contractors that offer extra curricular activities. So far the strategy has been successful with the enjoyment of the opportunities provided acting as a catalyst to increased and maintained participation and is predicted to act as a vehicle for encouraging lifelong participation.
