"Ponožky" (Socks) Film

We are Syracuse University Film students, entering our Senior year. When studying in the Czech Republic's "Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague" (FAMU), this past semester, we wanted to produce a short film that would break the mold of student films and defy audience's expectations. Exploring the theme of lack of control over one's life, or rather specifically over a marriage, we created a fully Czech film that does just that. Plus, there are socks involved.

Recently we finished a narrative dark comedy, "Ponožky" (2016) that follows our protagonist, Jiri through an eventful day, exploring his failing marriage and the fact that all of his socks have strangely disapeared.

We had the exciting opportunity to shoot on 35mm film which is a rare process in the modern film industry. Written over the course of a few months while living in Prague, we set out to create an authentic Czech film with professional Czech actors, yet one that tells a universal story.    
 
In order to submit our film to a diverse pool of festivals, we will need around $1000 USD to cover the various entry fees. If we are able to reach this goal, our film will have a higher rate of acceptance, therefore allowing more of the public to see the work we've created.


The money raised needs to be available as soon as possible due to the early deadlines, some starting as soon as late July.
