Valerie's 2015-2016 College Fund

Donation protected

Hello! My name is Valerie and I am 21 years old.

I am currently attending College for Creative Studies, and I started my Junior classes recently. I'm a transfer student, I had a free community college education. My credits are a bit odd, but I will be a Junior next school year, credit-wise.

As someone who grew up in poverty, I do not have the financial support of my parents. I have scholarships and government aid, but that is not enough to cover my tuition. I have used my savings during my first year of attendance on housing, art supplies and food. Some of the money donated will also go toward that and other expenses related to my education, such as commitment fees and first housing payments. That has been covered this year, but I will need to pay these again by Winter semester, especially because I need to live on campus and dorms are limited.

I can't get a job because I have a minor disability (ADHD) that would make it difficult to perform a job and meet deadlines for my assignments at the same time. Perhaps in the future I will get a job, but for now I'm still adjusting to life at art school and independent living.

There is a misconception that art school is easy and fun, all the time. Going to College for Creative Studies requires real work and operating at maximum capacity. Advanced, professional quality art is not easy to learn to do or create.

I am extremely grateful to be here and I have been working very hard. I want to be able to stay here and earn my bachelor's degree in illustration without accumulating massive debt. I need your help to do this.

Most of my education is covered by loans right now. The point of this campaign is loan reduction and money for fees, supplies, living expenses and housing. The goal of this campaign doesn't have to be met this year since it isn't a do or die thing, but it would be really cool if it was met. Helping me will save me and my parents (they took out the loan for me since I have no credit) from financial stress in the future.

Each sizeable donation will get a high-quality print as a reward. Just leave your address with your donation and a print will be mailed to you if you want one! If you want a painting that is worth less than your donation, specify it. More art work will be available later, so keep checking on my campaign and get more art when you make another donation! ^_^
