Hi, my name is Shawnna Clow and I am a Local Swap Organizer with peace.love.swap. My territory is the Peninsula area of Virginia (Hampton, Newport News, Yorktown/York County, Poquoson and Williamsburg).
What peace.love.swap. is, is a way to bring together families, the community and local charities to help one another.
In todays society of just not having enough money, peace.love.swap. is a God-send. It has allowed me to clean out the kids closets and game/toy bins to get rid of items we no longer use or need and to trade them in for much needed clothes and items.
Families looking to save time and money while outfitting growing kids have a new option to yard sales, thrift stores and consignment sales. The increased demand for gently-loved items has grown exponentially and breathed new life into the swap concept. A swap event is a simple concept that is quickly becoming a new option for many eco-friendly and budget-conscious families. It is the organized sharing of gently-used items among neighbors and friends. It is a great way to live green by recycling kids items! Independent Local Swap Organizers make a point of creating a family-friendly environment; from the venue, to the vendors, to the swapping itself. We offer the unique opportunity to shore your closet and your playroom with dozens of other moms, giving you access to the wardrobe and playthings that suit your kids just right.
Who benefits from a peace.love.swap. event. Everyone! Entrepreneurial women across the country are organizing pls events to benefit families in their communities. Local parents, grandparents, foster & adoptive families attend these events as swappers and take home new-to-you items their children can use right away for one low registration fee. Local small business owners are invited to showcase their services and product line to the participants.
I have been doing this since 2013 and I just love it. I love putting on events and I love bringing the community together. What my 2015 goal is, is to have a "Headquarters" where I can store all the items that are donated to us inbetween events, a place where we can hold more regularly scheduled swaps (i.e. every 3rd Saturday of the Month), a play where we can have a playroom set up for the kids, a place where we can offer playgroups and playdates, a place where we can hold workshops and more to help our families and the community and so many more fun and exciting ideas and plans.
With this campaign I would like to raise enough money to rent the ideal place (already have a place picked out in Newport News, VA), enough money to setup the space (painting, shelving, racks and playroom supplies) and enough starting capital (for utilites and advertising) or the first year, so we don't have to worry about money and can focus on our LOCAL COMMUNITY!
