Funeral of Donald Brown aka Canada.
We have set up this page in honour of our father Donald Brown (a.k.a. Canada) as a way of raising funds towards funeral costs at this difficult time.
Don was a founding member of One Hoot Rebels Country and Western club, which raised money for Birmingham Children’s Home, Macmillan and Help for Heroes, amongst others. He enjoyed taking part in the Fast Draw competitions and together with his loving wife, became well known and loved around the country.
Five years ago (Feb. 2010), Don was diagnosed with his first bout of Cancer; and with aggressive treatment and an invasive operation he was able to fight it off.On Monday 2nd March 2015, he was diagnosed with an unrelated aggressive form of lung Cancer, which spread to his bones.
On Saturday 14th March he suffered several strokes which lead to paralysis and hospitalisation. After an intense fight, he passed away on Friday 20th March, surrounded by his wife and children.
His death was sudden and unexpected. Within 18 days of his diagnosis, his life was taken; leaving his family with funeral costs and the pending loss of their family home (council owned).
As the costs are mounting up here and for his family back home in Canada (who desperately want to be here for his funeral), it is becoming clearer that we cannot do this alone.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
