You may be reading this after venturing to a popular Facebook Event: The Only Pi Day of Our Lives!

You may know me as the host (or more likely, you probably don't know me at all).

I'm really just a random guy who had a random idea that happened to be a popular idea - I had originally sent the Facebook invite to only a few of my closest friends, with no intention of carrying any sort of event that would end up being copied by dozens of people  (did they think they were sharing it?) or being covered by news sources as large as CNN .

When I was in high school, I was lucky enough to have teachers who appreciated mathematics. Having celebrated Pi Day since I was in elementary school, I always had the opportunity to memorize pi and celebrate it (shoutout to my 7th grade teacher Mrs. Pfaff for having the digits stapled to the walls).

When Facebook finally swung into popularity around 2008 at my school, I was quick to make a Pi Day 2015 event and, to my knowledge, was the first person to establish this as one of the coolest days we get to live through, at least in terms of awesome patterns that happen with dates.

I ended up studying Computer Science (B.S.) and Mathematical Economics (B.A.) [Whitworth University ] to secure that my hard work would translate into something awesome.

To the surprise of many and the loyalty of few, I declined multiple offers to join larger companies and helped cofound a startup after college, and have been doing my best to bring it to a point of success (with an amazing team!). I work full time doing Product Management and Software Eng./Web Dev for Vuevent inc.

The startup I work for is the most amazing opportunity I've ever had, and I'm excited to keep working here regardless of what the future holds. In order to pursue my passion at this startup, I'm basically living on a $200/month budget for food in order to put everything I have into this opportunity.

There aren't many wristbands left, but more importantly, this is the last time I will be sending them out and this is the last of a once-large supply that is now worn by pi-loving people all around the world.

Remember to have an awesome and safe Pi Day 2015. It's going to be an amazing day and I'm excited to be a human in this day and age who gets to share it with each and every one of you.

Whether you're more for reciting pi or eating it, remember to have fun and share time with loved ones.

See you in 3/1/41,
Jimmy Derocher
