Katherine's Insulin Pump

Please help me afford an insulin pump so I can live a full and healthy life. I’m a student pursuing social work and paying my way through college. It is extremely challenging to afford my $190/month health care premium along with other medical costs and college payments.
My Story
When I was eight years old, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. It has affected me psychologically and financially, in addition to physically. I have to constantly consider routine care, doctor visits, eating regularly, frequent blood glucose monitoring, exercise, restricted diets, health insurance, medicine, cost of care, and psychological pressures. It is a struggle every day because I want to control my health and actively pursue my calling as a social worker. A few years ago, my doctor convinced me to switch from the syringes I had been using my whole life to an insulin pump treatment, which turned out to be the best decision I ever made.
It allowed me to manage my Type 1 Diabetes better and allowed me to live a more active and care free life. Also, it decreased several long term health complications that can result from the illness over many years. On April 28th, my insulin pump malfunctioned while I was asleep. I felt incredibly ill before I realized I had not been receiving my insulin for several hours, which can be life threatening. My medical insurance policy currently does not cover a large portion of the cost like my previous policy did and it is extremely challenging to pay the monthly premium of $190 along with college payments.
I desire to live a healthy and full life, and need a new insulin pump to make this possible. I need your help in any way that you can offer. For those who donate or support my cause by sharing this post--I vow to continue to pursue my life’s calling to serve others and never forget the gift of health that you can help make possible.
