Fundraising for MGHS School, Lagos

Paceworking is a business network based in the UK organising conferences, business seminars and shows. The acronym and key message of Paceworking is 'P.A.C.E' - to Promote, Advertise, Connect and Empower through networking and business events. The year 2015 marks our 10th Anniversary and as an old student (OGMG) of Methodist Girls’ High School (MGHS), Lagos, Nigeria. I am assisting to raise much needed funds for the School.
I was part of the Centenary set and attended when Mrs Onafowokan was the Principal. At that time there were four houses Nightingale, Carvel, Livingstone and Slessor. I wore the red and white striped uniform and the blue beret with great pride. I received an excellent education and specifically enjoyed the literary debates, Inter-house sports, School plays and concerts.  

Methodist Girls’ High School was founded in 1879 and is the oldest girls Secondary School in Nigeria. The School based in Yaba, Lagos has provision for day and boarding. The aim of the School is to provide a Christian education which brings the best potential in a girl’s personality and academic life, equipping her for the challenges of life.

I would like to use the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of Paceworking to give back to the School that gave me so much and equipped me with key life and social skills, including the much needed skills required to face challenges and host Paceworking events.  

It is a key time to support Schools like MGHS. The education of girls has been under threat in some parts of Nigeria - with the kidnapping of the ‘Chibok Girls’ and the harassment of families who send girls to school. MGHS as the oldest girls school in Nigeria is a lasting legacy of how important it is to educate girls and important contribution girls make to economical and social development.

I would like to raise funds for the next generation of students of Methodist Girls’ High School and make sure they benefit from a good education and with improved facilities. By making a donation to Methodist Girls’ High School, Lagos, Nigeria you will be making huge difference and an essential contribution to the following projects:

·         Renovation to the classrooms and assembly hall

·         Renovation of the Boarding house

·         Renovation of the Library

·         Maintenance of the school grounds

·         Purchasing of School equipment such as new books and PC’s
