Used car for disabled for doctor

Donation protected
For the past 7 years my mother and I have been relying on an old 1991 Buick for travel to local general doctor appointments and grocery store. We are both disabled, my mother, 66, suffers from epilepsy, the side effects of a brain tumor that was removed in the late 1980s, diabetes and two fractured ankles the hospital refused to fix due to being afraid of both diabetes plus chance of her having seizure while in surgery, so now she's left unable to ever walk again.

I'm 40, will be 41 this year (2017),  suffer from coronary heart disease, sadly my father and most the men on my father's side have passed away young from it, I had a heart attack at age 30, and I also suffer with degenerative disk disease in my lower back and while we do not live together, we are just a few blocks apart. I had been picking her up for doctor appointments back when I first created this site hoping for something, I had been getting groceries, keeping eye on her, as well as errands such as paying bills, which after we pay bills on our fixed incomes we have just a few dollars until the next month's disability payment.

The problem my old car we used all the way up to March of 2017 was the transmission is busted, it's an automatic but it wouldn't  go out of first gear and mechanics had said it would be cheaper to just buy a used car and sell this 1991 Buick for scrap. The transmission only allowed the car to go around 15 miles per hour and entire car shakes and vibrates in reverse, and it was on it's "last legs", but I kept trying to patch it best I could, but it would overheat if not careful due to being stuck in 1 gear I guess, and it's died a few times, forcing me to spend what little I did have saved toward a used vehicle to keep that old broken car patched just enough to get around local in this tiny town only at 1-15 miles per hour.

The transmission finally "gave up the ghost" March 2017, and locked up. The engine wouldn't crank anymore. There had not been too much wrong with engine besides age and few leaks but stuck in a 2 red light town using it as my only way to get to the local general practitioner and store finally was too much and it's dead. I had to pay to get it towed to my apartment and I am now stranded. I can't go to my mother if she needed help, I can't go anywhere now. I am extremely desperate now. I hope there may be someone out there who may be able to help if possible, if not then  just sending good wishes is extremely appreciated!

It's been too long not seeing any specialists. I need new glasses, I need to see a neurologist or whoever can fix an ulnar nerve entrapment which is causing muscle atrophy, with recent diagnosis of facet arthropathy and spondylosis in lower spine I am in much need of surgery. But while I do have disability insurance I still need to see my cardiologist to get okayed for surgery and be referred to a specialist who can do the surgery which there are none local.

I have called insurance companies, churches, goodwill and even used car lots to try and find any donated cars or help and have had no luck at all. I really don't know what else to do at this point and hope I can try and put together funds to purchase a dependable used car so I can take care of my mother and myself, and be able to get her the very best care and get us both back on track to self sufficiency.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I hope and pray that I can soon be able to take my mother and I to our specialists and have the ability to be more self sufficient and even just have the ability to take my mother out for dinner and spend more time with her.

I've never been the type to look to charity, I've often felt other's were in much worse shape. So if you disregard, that is no problem, just the act of you reading my story is worth a lot, I give much respect and thanks for taking the time. For those that possibly pray, or for those that don't, at least send good thoughts this way.

Thank you kindly,

Eric
