Injured Veterans Auto Training

Tax deductible
Racing4Vets is raising funds to send 5 outstanding service-disabled Veterans to our automotive motorsports education and training program in Tampa, Florida in May 2015.

These 5 service-disabled Veterans have been selected from across the USA to join our team.  They were selected based on their military service, personal character and demonstrated commitment to their fellow Veterans.   This is their "bootcamp" week and we need your assistance to help get them there and support their training.

Your donation will fund a full week of hands on mechanical education and team preparation for these 5 service-disabled Veterans.

Each day the Veterans will learn the skills to build and maintain competition racing vehicles, the functional roles in a successful motorsports program, and how motorsports events operate.

Training is delivered through hands on courses taught by experts from the motorsports industry and Racing4Vets' experienced Veteran and civilian team leaders.

Each Veteran will learn by working directly on one or more dedicated project vehicles in the Racing4Vets shop.

The program includes training on:

- Vehicle engineering, fabrication and maintenance
- Sponsorship and fundraising
- Logistics and transportation
- Event management
- Operations management
- Safety and skill development
- Business partnerships
- Financial budgeting
- Race shop management
- Competition driving

At the end of their "bootcamp" week, Veterans will be assigned a race driving instructor and given the opportunity to develop competition driving skills on a closed course autocross track.

If the Veteran passes the autocross portion, he or she will be invited to join the Racing4Vets team as a driver and/or crew member at the ChumpCar 14 Hours of Daytona event on May 24, 2015.

What Does My Donation Pay For?

Your donation will be used for Veteran transportation, tools, vehicle parts, supplies, safety equipment, food, lodging, event entries and minor administrative costs.

Racing4Vets is an all-volunteer organization so none of your donation goes to salaries.

Who Is Racing4Vets?

Racing4Vets is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to serving Veterans and their families dealing with PTSD, traumatic brain injuries and physical injuries.
Racing4Vets provides rehabilitation, career training and camaraderie to service-disabled Veterans through involvement in motorsports.  Our programs include:

- Occupational and recreational therapy
- Mechanical career training
- Community outreach and team building
- Vehicle fabrication and maintenance
- Karting, automotive and off road competition

Racing4Vets operates the only all-service disabled Veteran endurance auto motorsports program in the United States.   This is the program the 5 selected Veterans will be participating in.

Racing4Vets has directly served over 250 Veterans since 2012.   Our programs are open to any U.S. Military Veteran with a service-related disability and the desire to learn and work as part of a team.  We have chapters in Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, Texas and California and a network of Team Partners across the U.S.

Does Racing4Vets Deliver Results?

YES! Our programs have delivered tremendous positive impacts:

- One of our Veterans launched a successful go-kart maintenance business.
- Another of our Veterans has started a slot car hobby business.
- Our Veterans launched the first service-disabled Veteran endurance auto racing team in the U.S. and finished in the top 50% of 100+ cars in their first event.
- Our Veterans created the first all-service-disabled Veteran kart racing team in the U.S. and won their class championship in the first year.
- Two Racing4Vets Veteran Team Partners have teamed up to build their own Legends car racing program.
- Multiple Veterans have entered university to pursue their bachelors degrees.
- Our Veterans regularly help each other obtain their VA end GI Bill benefits.
- One Veteran learned how to save $60,000 on his daughter's college education.
- Our Veterans help each other obtain PTSD and TBI service dogs, including training and certification.
- Alcohol and drug abuse drops dramatically when a Veteran joins our program.
- Our Veterans engage actively with their communities to educate the public on PTSD, brain injuries, drug and alcohol abuse, homelessness and suicide prevention.
- We have directly served over 250 injured Veterans since 2012.

What Makes Racing4Vets Different?

Racing4Vets' programs are entirely participation-based. Every Veteran in our programs contribute as a working team member within their capabilities.  Team members are assigned defined roles and responsibilities which challenge and develop their skills.  Veterans build their own vehicles and manage their own programs.

We do not provide "arrive and drive" or "hero for a day" programs that deliver minimal value but cost a lot of money.   Our Veterans join a true working team and participate with Racing4Vets for years.   This team-based approach creates camaraderie, pride and continuous involvement.  It develops Veteran leaders and leverages skills learned in the military to become successful in the civilian world.  Becoming a true team member, working toward common goals and achieving success together are what our Veterans value the most. At Racing4Vets our service-disabled Veterans learn what they "can" do rather than what they "can't" do.

Does Racing4Vets Work With Other Organizations?

Racing4Vets has a partnership with the U.S. Veterans Administration National PTSD and TBI Rehabilitation Center at Cincinnati-Fort Thomas.  We provide indoor karting as outpatient therapy to 20-50 Veterans each month suffering from PTSD and TBIs.

We also work regularly with the Student Veterans of America,  American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, POW-MIA, Jacobs House, Operation Homefront, Wounded Warriors and other Veteran-oriented organizations.

Racing4Vets teams up with local motorsports-oriented businesses and community organizations such as the Rotary Club.  We develop invaluable partnerships within the local business community which help service-disabled Veterans learn and achieve their career goals.
