Help Ryan study at NYU this June 15-19
UPDATE 5/21: NYU has agreed to help furnish some of my expenses! I've updated the amount I'm trying to raise as a result, and need to turn it into them no later than THIS FRIDAY 5/23. Please spread the word and "share"!
Dear GoFundMe.com users:
My name is Ryan McBride, and I am an aspiring drummer who's just finished a Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies at William Paterson University. I still actively perform throughout the New York/New Jersey area, and just wrapped up a production of "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson" this past weekend in Hackensack.
I recently got accepted to study at NYU's Broadway Percussion Seminar this coming June 15-19. The seminar brings together 9-10 drummers and percussionists currently performing in the Broadway pits, and allows participants to shadow and learn from them throughout the course of four days. In addition to receiving valuable insight and knowledge into the world of drumming on Broadway, participants also get to prepare and present show excerpts in a masterclass setting, as well as watch two shows live from the pit!
I'm only looking to raise enough money to cover part of the tution. NYU has agreed to pay $350, leaving me to raise another $350 on my own. The modest amount I make from my graduate assistantship, plus income from gigs, should cover the rest of my expenses for incidentals (meals, subway fare, etc).
Performing in a Broadway pit has always been a dream of mine, and attending this seminar will put me face-to-face with the people who are the movers and shakers of the Broadway scene. It is my hope that the people I meet and the skills that I gain will ultimately enable me to turn my dream into a reality.
Because demand for this workshop is so high, (there's a 15-student waiting list currently), I only have the next two days to raise $350. Any contribution is greatly appreciated, no matter how great or small, and will put me one step closer to attending this seminar. It would truly mean the world to me to realize this dream. Thank you so very much for your time.
With much appreciation,
Ryan
