Sydney's Medical Fund

Donation protected
As a senior at the University of Chicago, Sydney was studying abroad in Rabat, Morocco. While out for a jog on the morning of Monday March 2nd, she was struck by a military truck and suffered a serious head injury and broken collarbone. Although conscious when she arrived at the hospital, she was confused and acting erratically.  It was quickly determined that a portion of her skull should be removed to allow room for her brain to swell, and a brain scan was conducted that revealed a bleed. She underwent two surgeries and was placed in a medically-induced coma to keep her body still. Her parents flew through the night and arrived in Morocco on Tuesday to be by her side. On Wednesday, she responded favorably to the surgeon’s commands and moved all four limbs. The immediate plan is to transfer her to a hospital in England where she can continue her recovery.  This fund has been established to help offset the expenses accrued through travel and treatment overseas and also any stateside therapies and travel that may be necessary in the near future.
