Help Support Local Trainer/Coach/Kru /Father- Jeff Perry

In February 2014, Jeff Perry (Muay Thai-boxing Coach, Self Employed Contractor of Perry Construction and Father) was diagnosed with stage IV Follicular lymphoma which is a form on Non- Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Jeff along with his team of doctors and nutritionists closely monitored his progress through natural treatments, trying to avoid chemotherapy as long as possible. In December, Jeff had two large tumors and lymph nodes removed. The doctors were hoping by removing the tumors they were removing the cells that were “causing problems”. Within, 6 weeks the tumors had grown back and spread. His oncologist has said he must start treatments immediately. This Friday, March 6, 2015 Jeff will undergo a bone marrow biopsy, echo cardiogram (to ensure his heart is healthy for treatments) and have his chemo port put in his chest.  Jeff will start intense chemotherapy on Monday, March 9th 2015. He will undergo a week straight of chemo and have three weeks of recovery. This will go on for 4 months.

Many who know Jeff personally and professionally have asked how they can help. With the help of Team [email redacted], a "Go Fund Me “Account has been set up to help Jeff with his expenses during this difficult time. Due to the fact Jeff is self employed and has a very physically demanding job, his debt and expenses have increased due to the increasing number of medical expenses and doctor’s visits. Unable to work as effectively due to the cancer, he will need plenty of rest and support to stay as healthy as possible and put this into remission. Any donations will be GREATLY appreciated and will be put towards Jeff and his medical and living expenses during this time. THANK YOU for your support. All prayers and contributions large or small are MUCH appreciated!

MORE ABOUT JEFF’S CAREER:

Jeff Perry, Muay Thai-Boxing Coach "Kru" for Team Octopus Martial Arts, received some unfortunate news this week. As many members of the community now know, Jeff has cancer. This was very difficult news to receive for a retired professional athlete at the age of 37.  Jeff began training in Thai-Boxing in 1996. In 1999 Jeff went to train professionally in Thailand. Jeff Perry was the first US Muay Thai fighter to fight in Phuket National stadium, that honor was traditionally only for local fighters.

Upon returning to the United States, Perry went on to win several titles, including the Georgia State and Southeast Regional Champion for Muay Thai. He also won the IKF U.S. National Light Middle Weight Muay Thai Championship Belt in 2001 which propelled him into his professional fight career that continued until 2006.

At the peak of his career, Jeff was ranked 7th in the world in the Light Middle Weight Division. His combined Muay Thai record is 18-2-4, with 14 wins by KO. He has also trained in Tae Kwon Do, Jiu-Jitsu, and American Kickboxing and has worked with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America as a Tae Kwon Do instructor.

To date, Perry is training his team of fighters for WKA US team trials in Richmond, Virginia. Jeff is still planning to attend this event with the support of his school…
