End Discrimination Shirts!

THE STORY BEHIND THE CAMPAIGN

We’re a group of concerned Atlanta businesses partnering up to make sure discrimination doesn't become legal in Georgia. Or any other state in America.

On Monday, March 28th, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal announced he will veto HB757. This bill would've been a license to discriminate based on religious beliefs, especially against those who are LGBT. This was a big victory, but the problem is far from over. Already, supporters of HB757 have called for a special session to overturn Governor Deal's veto.

And Georgia isn't the only state facing this problem. Some recent proposed bills, like those in North Carolina, Mississippi, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, West Virginia and Kentucky also legally open the door for discrimination against the LGBT community.

Until today, we've been raising awareness about this issue. Now, we're raising money to support LGBT causes, starting in Georgia.

This campaign is supporting Lost-n-Found Youth (LNFY) , an Atlanta-based nonprofit that provides help for homeless LGBT teens.

We are not directly a part of LFNY. We're simply a group of like-minded companies here in Georgia that strongly believes their mission is worth funding. The team at LFNY are aware of this fundraising campaign, and are excited to receive these donations.

If this campaign is successful, we'll offer new products in the future that will support other LGBT organizations around the country.

HOW THE FUNDS WILL BE SPENT

The funds raised, after producing the t-shirts and bumper stickers, will be used to provide shelter and other vital services for Atlanta's LGBT youth in need of support. Our group will be in charge of withdrawing the money, at which time we will present the funds to Lost-n-Found Youth.

LNFY is Atlanta’s only non-profit organization dedicated to taking homeless lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth off the street and into more permanent housing. They also provide services and referrals based on the needs of youth entering our program. Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Your donation helps fund:
— 24/7 phone, texts, and email response
— Emergency and transitional housing
— Emergency clothing and food for youth on the street
— Mental health evaluations and counseling
— Referrals to HIV/STD testing, health and dental services
— Assistance for lost or stolen birth certificates, driver’s licenses or state ID cards
— Referrals to GED training/testing and other education resources
— Resume writing/editing and interview skills training

Our plan is to present the donations to LNFY in a ceremony to mark the celebration of Governor Deal's veto of HB757.

WHY THIS MEANS SO MUCH

Picture this for a moment.

You live in a state where it's legal to discriminate based on religious beliefs. You're a teenager. You’re gay. And for this reason, your parents have kicked you out of the house. You have nowhere to go. Nowhere to live. So you go to a homeless shelter, expecting to find, well, shelter.

Only, this particular facility happens to be run by people who don’t want gay people inside their walls. So they kick you out. And it's completely legal.

Since you can’t go home, you have no choice but to head to the next shelter. Only, they turn you away, too. And so does the next one. And the next one. Until before long, you run out of options entirely.

With your donation, and by wearing your t-shirt or displaying your bumper sticker, you’ll help make sure homeless LGBT teens in Georgia never have to run out of options again.
