As you may have seen in the newspaper recently, due to the success of their business our long time landlord, Garick Farms, needs to expand their footprint and will be reclaiming two of our fields. We know this decision was a difficult one for Garick, and we thank them for their longtime support and wish them continued success.
The loss of A and Little A fields require the conversion of B Field back to baseball and the relocation of our Softball program. The Baseball program will continue to play at Garick Farms.
I have been working with the Board of Education to renovate fields at Sarah Noble Intermediate School for our Softball program. Our Softball program has been experiencing unprecedented growth, particularly at our younger levels. The two revitalized fields will allow our younger and older players to train, compete, and cheer for each other side by side. With the help of many great people both inside and outside the Board of Education, we now are able to focus our efforts on bringing the fields back to a playable condition. Working through the Town and the School Facilities Department, we hope to have these two fields ready for our girls to begin practicing and playing uninterrupted in the spring of 2016.
We can only accomplish our goals with the continued support of our Community. We are a volunteer organization and recognized 501 C3 registered charity. Not one Board member, Coach, or Player participates for any other reason than love of the game and the ability to represent the Town of New Milford on the State, Regional, and National level. The League receives no monetary support from the town government whatsoever. The funds we are able to spend on our players and fields are what we can raise through registration fees and fundraising efforts.
The hard costs associated with renovating the Sarah Noble fields are in excess of $30,000. To raise these funds the League is asking for our families, our sponsors, our local business supporters to contribute what they can to our Go Fund Me page.
I know that we are just one of many worthy charities asking for donations, but our needs at this time require me to ask for your help one more time. Please donate what you can for our girls.
