Hello,

I would like to take a few minutes to introduce you to the Swaim family and their story.

Richie and Monica Swaim found out they were pregnant on August 28th 2014 and a few months later doctors determined they would be blessed with precious twin boys.  After hearing such wonderful news they felt very blessed and thankful to God for the two miracles that would soon enter their lives.   On January 6th; 23 weeks into the pregnancy, doctors became concerned that the twins would make an early arrival into the world. Doctors evaluated the situation and set a goal to delivery at 28 weeks in hopes the twins would be Monica and Richie's Valentines. Doctors sent Monica home and placed her on bedrest as a precautionary measure.

On February 14th 2015 a mere 28 1/2 weeks into the pregnancy, the twins boys were born at around 3 pounds each.  Richie and Monica welcomed their two angels into the world, Sterlin Odell Swaim III and Gunnison Strait Swaim.

The early arrival of the twins had it's on set of complications and Gunnison suffered from a heart murmur. Doctors placed Gunnison on medication for the murmur. However, the medication caused Gunnison to suffer from a rare side effect resulting in a perforation in his intestines. Doctors placed him on antibiotics in hopes to defeat the infection. But at that point Gunnison needed further attention and under went a successful surgery to close the perforation in his intestines. Unfortunately, as a result of the toxins created previously from the infection within his body, young Gunnison was unable to pull through. On February 28th 2015, Gunnison went to be with his Heavenly Father. While his time on Earth was very short, he brought an unconditional amount of love and joy to the family, friends, and relatives that surrounded him. His life on Earth was time sensitive, but a delicate encounter of love and life. Young Gunnison will always be in the hearts of those who loved and cared for him and will not be forgotten.

Given the current circumstances, Richie and Monica have put thier faith in the Lord and cherish every second they spent with young Gunnison. The spiritual guidance of the family and Church has given Richie and Monica reassurance in the will of the Lord and a realization of Gunnison's purpose on this Earth.

From a co-worker and friendship perspective, I have seen God through Monica on a daily basis as a school teacher and role model for her students. Her reflection of love towards others is undeniable and persistent. She is an inspiration to me, her students, church, and community.  Richie is a 5th grade teacher and is very passionate about investing his time with children of all ages.  Their mission is to build a home for unprivileged children and name it in Gunnison's honor.

Thank you for your time and understanding. Any contributions to the Swaim Family will be greatly appreciated. God Bless!
