Nick Jr.'s Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Family and friends-

As some of you know, Nick Jr. has been in the hospital under intensive care since Tuesday, June 13th. He has been on dialysis daily for renal failure and also underwent a double fasciotomy on both legs as a result of severe compartment syndrome. Nick was found unresponsive in the garage at his home. After piecing together a timeline, it is likely that Nick had been unconscious in a slumped/sitting position for almost 6 hours which is how he developed the compartment syndrome. The doctors have said it is also likely that his kidneys began to shut down before he lost consciousness. Nick was immediately taken to Swedish Covenant Hospial and placed on life support. After a visit from the pastor of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, where Nick attended grade school, and lots of prayers he woke up on Thursday, June 15th and was taken off of life support on Friday, June 16th. Nick has received exceptional care at Swedish and has become a top priority to so many excellent doctors and nurses. However, due to the severity of his case he will be transferred to Loyola University hospital in Maywood as of this evening, June 27th. There he will be seen by specialists that can preform surgery on his legs to remove dead tissue and heal his wounds- as well as physical therapists to help him walk again. He will also continue on daily dialysis treatment. Nick has a long road of recovery ahead of him and his length of stay at Loyola is unknown as of yet. We- his father, mother, and sister are asking for donations at this time to help with costs of food, parking, transportation, and time taken off from work to be with Nick. We are also unsure of medical costs regarding what will or will not be covered under his Medicaid insurance plan. Money has been the last thing on our minds but seeing as this time in the hospital is very extensive, we have had to make the decision as a family to ask for help. Any and every donation is greatly appreciated. We thank everyone who has been helping out, reached out, and prayed for Nick Jr. these last 2 weeks. We will update as much as possible to keep everyone informed on his condition. Continue to send positive vibes and prayers of healing during this difficult time.

Sincerely,
The Zartler family
