Hello friends, Old and New!
My name is Narissa Bond, singer/songwriter/guitarist, asking for you to take part in my upcoming recording Project by donating to my gofundme campaign.
It's been years since my last recording, THREE WORDS and many of you have been asking when my next recording will be completed.
This project chronicles almost eight years of my life, but in some ways, it is about my entire life. What seems to be the connecting theme is family. In the song, “Wish Bone” I travel into my mother, Zelema Harris’s past and her father who was born in 1866, who found water with a diving rod. James Marshall refused to pass for white, even though he was often mistaken for being a white man. I wrote the song “Beyond the End of Time/Malia’s Song” after hearing my niece Malia put herself down. I wrote it for her and for all children who sometimes believe lies other children and adults tell them. I suppose for the child in all of us. “The Road to Berea” the video for my campaign is about the Bonds, my father’s side of the family, from Jane the slave, to Horace Mann, to Julian Bond and more.
Donations from you will pay for studio time, CD duplication, and pay a number of incredibly talented musicians, including Bassist David Mills and percussionist Charlton Phaneuf .
Your donations will allow the music to reach a much larger audience. I come from a family of storytellers. I have heard my mother tell stories her entire life, my sister, Cynthia Bond (author of the novel RUBY) is a writer. I have written and sung the stories that are in my heart. Sometimes I feel the love of my ancestors with me when I am working on a song. I know I feel the love of my family and friends.
I’m really excited to be able to offer a free concert to my top donor within a 200 mile radius from Norfolk (exceptions can be made beyond that designated area.) to my top donor. Other prizes include a visit to a recording session visit, an autographed CD and many more. Please check out my list of donor gifts.
