Millwood High School is very excited to announce it will be starting a football program in the 2015-2016 school year. In order to make this happen, we are looking for your financial support.
Currently, Millwood High School is one of the only schools in the Halifax Regional School Board who do not have a football program. The main goal of any athletic program is to educate through sport. It has recently come to our attention that there is a large portion of our students who feel a connection to the sport of football and are faced with leaving their community school to attend an out of area high school that has a football program to offer them.
It has been proven that when students feel connected to their community they are more successful in their academics and much more likely to also positively contribute to their community. By offering our students a football program we are offering an opportunity for these students to stay connected to their community, to continue learning in their community, and to bring their positive achievements in to benefit the community as a whole.
With your help, we can begin a football program that will provide more students the opportunity to learn through sport and create a foundation for a healthier future for them and their community. The team is looking for sponsors/donations to help offset some of the expenses in order to start the program, including all practice and game gear, jerseys and equipment.
We hope by offering a football program it will help instil values like dedication, responsibility and respect, while helping our student athletes become contributing members of their community.
