Studying Art History in Italy!
Hello All!
I am a Junior at Rhode Island College and I am majoring in Art History and Africana Studies. As an Art History major my interest usually falls toward museum and gallery work. I started working at the Bannister Gallery at RIC about two years ago, at the beginning of my freshman year. I have learned briefly how exhibitions are planned, put together, and I also have learned some of the administrative responsibilities that come with working at a gallery. But I wanted to take my learning experience to the next level and decided to spend a semester abroad. Visiting and experiencing the museums in Italy would be a great opportunity to learn and expand my knowledge about how art works are arranged and the atmosphere of different kinds of galleries/museums. Also there is no better way to learn about Italian art history than to actually be there in person! I plan on visiting Florence in the spring of 2013. I currently have 2 jobs and am applying for scholarships but that still will not meet the costs, so I decided I'd ask for help. I would really appreciate the help! Thanks!
