MRCSS Food Pantry Van

The Mitchell Resource Center for Social Services (MRCSS), a self-governing 501(c)3 non-profit organization seeks to raise $12,000-15,000 to replace the cargo van used for the Food Pantry program. The Food Pantry has been in existence for 20+ years and recognized by local services and community agencies as a viable resource. Since its inception, the pantry serves approximately 300+ people and families each month from 20 different zip codes in the St. Louis area. The cargo van is used to pick up food from local area food banks and grocery stores.  By God's grace, we have been able to keep the cargo van operational for over 20 years.  With that said, the van has more than 200,000 miles.  More concerning is the rusted and lost flooring in the van.  To compensate, we have improvised by bolting the floor boards in an attempt to cover the holes in the floor. The van is in constant need of repair (i.e. engine and transmission), and as you might imagine repair costs are astronomical.

Our ability to continue this service is in jeopardy because of the condition of the aging van. If we don't identify funding resources to buy another van before the winter season,  we may not be able to keep the Food Pantry operational. Moreover, this would be devastating for the families that rely on the food during these critical months.

The Mitchell Resource Center for Social Services is an agency supported by grant initiatives, CPR church member donations, and other community resources. Your support of this effort would make a world of difference to these families and allow us to continue the work of our agency.

Be blessed,
