Help My Dog, Bones, Beat Cancer

Donation protected

Hi everyone, my name is Amy, and I am doing everything humanly possible to help my wonderful dog, Bones, beat cancer. He has a low grade 2 Mast Cell Tumor in between his weight bearing toes on his left hind leg. The oncologist wants to start chemotherapy this week (Friday May 29th) to shrink the tumor so we can spare the amputation of his leg. With the chemo and surgery, his prognosis looks good. After chemo therapy, he will need surgery to remove his toes. If the chemo does not work, he will have to get his leg amputated, but, we are trying to avoid that.

Bones is a lovable and spunky 8 year old male Hound/Sharpei Mix. I fostered him as a puppy for kennel cough and quickly became what is known as a "foster failer". I could not part with him, and have loved and cared for him ever since.

Bones is a very special dog. Everyone who sees him has to stop and pet his adorable wrinkly head. He grabs the attention of people no matter where we go, whether it is walking through the park, at the vets office, or in the car.

So far we have spent $1300 for tests and consultations through the Upstate Veterinary Specialties in Latham, NY. The surgery will range from $1500-$2000 depending on the extent of the procedure. The chemo will be roughly $2700-$3650. He is seeing a wonderful oncologist named Dr. Mahoney, and a seasoned surgeon, Dr. Besancon.

We hope this fundraiser will raise enough to cover the expense of all his veterinary needs including chemo therapy before and after surgery, medications, surgery, a nutritionist and possibly radiation after surgery. If radiation is needed, I will need to travel to Cornell, as there are no radiation treatments in the Albany area. In the event this occurs, I will most likey need to start another fundraiser, so let's hope for the best and trust the wonderful Dr's who are caring for Mr. Bones.

Any donation is greatly appreciated, no matter what the amount. I am incuding receipts and documents for you to view:
