Mother Please Listen

I am raising funds to make/produce my very first documentary titled "Mother Please Listen". This project has been on my mind and heart for a few years now. It all started my junior year at Pace University, I took a playwriting class and my professor assigned the class to write a ten minute play. That is when Mother Please Listen was born to be honest. My professor really loved my play and encouraged me to do something creative with it. I pondered for a while what exactly I wanted to do with my play, but in the end I decided I want to make this a documentary. I care deeply about this documentary because, I realized a long time ago that A LOT of mother/daughter relationships are tainted. I've heard stories and seen first hand how hurtful and damaging some mother/daughter relationships are. Within my own family, I've witnessed my mother and her mother have a toxic relationship for decades and it's painful to watch. They aren't even on speaking terms at this present moment and it feels like a never ending cycle, especially when you're always caught in the middle. I plan to get four mother/daughter couples to be apart of my documentary, talk about their issues, and hope viewers will be inspired to fix their issues with their mother and/or family members. Love one another, NEVER hate or go against each other. 

I have a Bachelors degree in Communications from Pace University and a Masters degree in Creative Writing from Full Sail University. Currently, I have a great production company-Failures No Option-behind me to bring my documentary to life. Filming will start in early September and expected to be all wrapped before November. My budget is $1800 and it will cover the cost of production-lighting and grip equipment, 2 videographers, camera equipment, editing, and a director. Once this documentary is filmed and edited, I also plan to enter it into Sundance Film festival next year. Getting into Sundance has always been a dream of mine and I no longer will let fear get in my way. I will NEED the funds by mid or late August. I'll forever be grateful for the support and this will be the beginning of a new journey for me that I've always wanted to be on for a long time now.  Writing and filmmaking has always been a passion of mine and this is what I'll be doing for the rest of my life.
