Ruby Dee once said, “The kind of beauty I want most is the hard-to-get kind that comes from within - strength, courage, dignity.” I strive to find my beauty through strength, courage, and dignity by exhibiting confidence and dedication in all that I do. My name is Angellic Ross and I am a junior at Northwestern University pursuing my Bachelor of Arts in Performance Studies and Certificates in Film & Media Studies and Civic Engagement. I am grateful, honored, and excited to serve as your Miss Black Wisconsin USA 2015.
I will use my role as Miss Black Wisconsin USA 2015 to advocate for this as well as encourage women to get involved through performance, screenwriting, producing, and directing which can further provide them with the capacity to make decisions of their portrayals in the media. I’m developing my skills by enrolling in the acting sequence at my school, serving as President of my Sorority’s chapter, participating behind the scenes of campus productions, volunteering in my community, and interning at both GE Healthcare and GE Oil & Gas. My biggest passion; however, is providing others with the same mentoring and opportunities that was given to me. My ultimate goal is to start my own arts non-profit that will be a free resource to developing young film artists and performers in low-income communities.
Your donation will contribute to scholarships given out by the Miss Black USA organization, pageant fees, and a scholarship I hope to give to a high school senior at my old high school.
