Dear friends, family, and supporters of Mind the Gap;
For the past three years I've been working on a pet project; an online resource on the Australian tax system for teenagers entering the workforce. That is, teaching:
Tax file numbers
The Australian schooling system neglects to teach this kind of material, and instead sends our youth into the workforce to learn how to manage their own taxes by trial and error.
I have created eleven simple, fun, animated tutorials, on eleven core tax subjects, explaining the basic concepts behind tax to give Australian teenagers the language and tools to manage their tax life with confidence and aptitude - a resource that is long over due.
Here's the clincher. Whilst I've spent all my weekends and days off over the last 9ish months developing the animation and audio myself using relatively cheap software, and the last three years developing the content, conducting market studies and writing scripts, I now need to develop a website to deliver the product.
So. The final frontier. After contacting many web designers, and gaining a range of quotes, it seems that to do this thing properly, it will cost in the thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars to turn my tutorials into an online course of study for teenagers across Australia.
My goal on gofundme is $5000. If you believe in this idea like I do, that this is a project that can help develop the Australians of tomorrow into prudent, independent, and self-sufficient adults, then your contribution and support will help me give the program legs to move.
Here's hoping I can turn a good deal of dreaming, and a great deal of hard work, into something that, hopefully, has value for everyone.
I can't thank you all enough for your support on this project.
