min tala. A pan-Arab dance company

Donation protected
Help us fund the creation of a unique pan-Arab dance-theatre company!

Our story:
min tala uses art to dissolve existing barriers in the Arab world and therefore provide unique opportunities of collaboration between young Arab artists.

min tala will gather 10 young Arab dance artists in order to nurture and inspire future generations of artists regionally and internationally through the power of collaboration. These artists, led by two artistic directors (Jorge Crecis -UK/Spain, Samar Haddad King  -Palestine, and one guest director Taufiq Izeddiou  -Morocco), together with Dina Abu Hamdan as general producer, are set on a mission to create new productions that will tour locally and internationally.

Our name, min tala or in Arabic: من تلا is taken from Levantine colloquial Arabic and is translated to mean “from towards”.

Why min tala is important
The lack of communication between artists in the Arab world is staggering because of the increased traveling limitations. Due to these restrictions, the continuation of this project is vital because it not only breaks down political and geographical barriers, but sets a precedent for future collaborations and communication with artists that have previously been isolated by these borders.

In addition to the collaboration between the artists of min tala, we will be leading community workshops where people from various backgrounds will exchange with our artists through art and particularly contemporary dance.

During the first 18 months of the project we will create a documentary that will be sent across the globe to tell our unique story.

min tala aims to:
- create sustainable employment for performing artists and art administrative professionals

- nurture sustainable artistic relationships between artists from different countries

- foster development of local dance communities through community outreach, daily classes

- produce high quality artistic productions to be toured locally and internationally

- inspire future generations of artists regionally and internationally through the power of their dance theatre collaborations.

Where are we located?
We are a nomadic company that will operate between Egypt, Jordan, and Morocco for the first season (2015-2016). British Council and Agencia Española de Cooperacion Internacional are our main supporters. Our local partners include: Ezzat Ezzat Dance Studios (Egypt) and Zakharef in Motion/Dewan (Jordan)

What your donation will help fund
With the support of British Council and Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional we are able to kickstart our first phase of min tala. However, WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP. We will be gathering in Egypt in June 2015 with dancers from Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan. Now we need your help to give us the final push.

Below you can find what your donation will do for us specifically and choose a reward level or you can donate anonymously and no resources will be spent on public thanks/gifts etc.

Over the next few weeks we will be posting testimonies, pictures and videos from the team. Stay tuned.

min tala is the beginning of a larger chain reaction, it is a generator of unique experiences. Experiences might finish in the blink of an eye; nothing changes in the world but something changes in those who undergo the experience. So, in the end, something might have changed after all.
