HELP US GET JUSTICE:
TENANT HASN’T BEEN FULLY PAID UP SINCE 2013, AGREED TO MOVE OUT AND NOW WON’T LEAVE. WE NEED AN ATTORNEY!
We tried to work out a payment plan to help our tenant when he began paying late but it didn’t help. After several months of being understanding and working with him, we finally had to file eviction papers on January 2, 2015 after he owed over $1500.00.
Currently he owes us over $2,000.00, won’t pay and refuses to leave. He is even ignoring the document he signed stating he would leave December 15.
Each month we are losing revenue to cover our bills that a paying tenant could provide. Even though it is not in the lease, we are being required to pay extra to provide him satellite TV.
He is given free legal counsel. As the homeowners we have no such help. We have had to drain our savings, borrow money and give up medical coverage just to cover court and legal fees totaling over $1000.00.
Please help us as we raise money to secure an attorney. A judge has stated that we should not try to represent ourselves as such cases can be costly and time-consuming.
We aren’t rich landlords trying evict just to jack up the rent. We only followed this course when he stated that he had no intention of leaving. Our months of kindness and seeking an amicable solution has only been met with petty attacks and conduct: smoking in the house, allowing his dog to bark for all hours of the day and night, urinate and defecate on our hardwood floor while he stays away from the house for over 24 hours at a stretch on a regular basis, leaving garbage on our driveway, losing keys and waking us to be let in at 2, 3 or 4 AM. Now he has added ordering pay-per-view movies at our expense to his transgressions.
The money we are seeking will cover a full-time attorney and pay for damages done to the house while he has been here.
