Daniels treatment & accommodations

Donation protected
Daniel is an Active Duty Soldier transitionining to life as a veteran in the civilian world. With the multitude of challenges that come with this, there is one in particular that is the main stressor for him and his family. Finding a way to finance his continued treatment, and making the necessary upgrades to his future home outside of the military.

While training for deployment in August of 2010, Daniel shattered his knee and needed reconstructive surgery. Upon his units arrival back from Afghanistan in December of 2011, he started developing additional problems. After 3 years of extensive treatment in December of 2014, he was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and was sent through the process to leave the Army due to a medical condition on honorable terms. This is an extremely rare and painful genetic disorder that effects the Connective Tissues in all of his muscles from his eyes to his joints. In addition to this, Daniel has been diagnosed with a multidude of Psychiatric problems from his time in service that has led him to now try and recieve a service dog to help cope and adjust with daily living.

Most of the time the Army will continue to pay for all expenses for the rest of a Soldiers life for injuries or illnesses due to military service. Although the trauma caused EDS to show 10 years prior to normal, it is still a genetic disorder. Daniel has been told that there is a 99% chance the Military will not pay for future complications with this disorder.

The funds from this account will go mostly towards house accomadations such as: widening hallways and doorways, wheelchair ramps on all entrances and exits to the home, a mechanical lift into the pool to help wheel chair bound friends and family wounded during their time in service. Amungst all of this, it will also pave the way for the family to start working toward adopting a service dog to assist with his disabilities, both mental and physical.
