Melody's WDI Program
Donación protegida
Hi friends! I was accepted in to the Web Development Immersive program at General Assembly in September. I started the program in late September and loved every moment. It is a 12-week bootcamp in which I learned the fundamentals of programming. This is something I have been dreaming of doing since I moved to San Francisco and I feel so honored that this dream became a reality. I created a website and went through a few interviews to get in to this program and during week five of the program I created a website for Make a Wish Foundation. This program costs $11,500 in total and I managed to pay for the first half of the program with savings and help from friends. I unfortunately do not have the money to pay for the latter half of the program which amounts to $5,750, so I am here to ask for donations-everything helps.
I would love to teach high school students how to program one day as well as help create websites and applications that empower youth and those in need. As I mentioned we had to put everything we have learned thus far in to practice and create a web application of our choice. I contacted a few nonprofits that I care about and asked them if I could create a free web application for them as my project. Make a Wish Foundation got back to me and asked me to create a virtual wish list for them. I felt truly honored to be able to do this. I had my doubts, but I was able to complete this project in a week, and this solidified for me that General Assembly indeed equipped me with important skills that I can use to make an impact. I am so excited to continue this journey. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart for your kind donations.

(Heroku is a little slow, but I am working on getting it hosted on another site)
And here is the link to my final project: actstat.daretodiscover.net
If you would like to read more about my experiences in the bootcamp, I have been keeping a blog: https://medium.com/@melodyserra
