Dear Friends and Family,
In 2013, our dear friend, Mei Ling, was diagnosed with neuroendocrine gastrointestinal cancer. At the time, she was 34 and never expected to battle this rare and incredibly aggressive cancer. But Mei has fought. She's exhibited great strength and an extraordinary grace in the face of endless medical appointments and an uncertain future. She's persevered when the treatment felt worse than the disease.
Two years later, we are blessed as she is still fighting. But, as much as this has taken a toll on her physically and emotionally, it has also sapped her financial resources. The combination of not working and paying for what insurance does not cover has resulted in financial concerns that Mei should not have to consider at this critical juncture. We want her and her fiancé, Jono, to have peace of mind when it comes to covering living expenses and the cost of alternative treatments.
Mei has found that alternative treatments help manage the pain and to provide slight relief. Alternative treatments include accupressure, accupuncture, therapeutic massages, herbal remedies, etc. Furthermore, with the constant change in Mei's condition, her dietary needs also change and she has been trying to maintain a diet high in organic foods. Both of these things go a long way in easing some of the stress and pain. But neither would be effective without the around the clock care Jono has been providing. He has been Mei's rock and her main source of support. In between working, Jono has been with her every step of the way and has given her the utmost care and love in her time of need.
On behalf of Mei, we are asking you for help. We want Mei and Jono spend their energy on fighting cancer so we can have our girl back. We don't want them to worry about money. Most importantly, we don't want money to be the deciding factor for things that can aid in her battle.
