Have you ever had an awesome idea that became a dream that then became reality?
Well, I have had infinite ideas, but only a few of them developed into dreams of mine. And this year, one of these dreams actually became a reality.
The MEDIA STUDIES CLASS and CLUB at DSST Cole High School!!!
It has been a wonderful learning experience launching this new class in August 2014, and then a branch out club in December 2014 at Cole High School.
HOWEVER, there where multiple bumps along the road. And many of these bumps were technological bumps. Ironically, the greatest obstacle in teaching this Media Studies Class was my very own media. An old-school Compaq laptop that was very generously donated to me after my HP laptop broke. The internet on it consistently fails to load, the charger chord has consitently broken and the system itself runs at somewhat of a snail pace. This poor old guy is definitely in his last days of life...
I believe that if I was able to buy a new laptop, preferably a Macbook Pro, I would not only have smoother Media Studies classes but I would also have expanded opportunities to make quality media with my students.
