Youth Spoken Word Poetry Non-Profit MassLEAP is sending a team of FIVE incredible teen poets to the annual Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Festival taking place July 19th-22nd in San Francisco California and WE NEED YOUR HELP TO GET THEM THERE!
Congratulations, Tope Sholola, Kofi Dadzie, Agnes Ugoji, Michelle Garcia (all returning members from last year) who will be joined by 2017 Youth Grand Slam Champion Andrine Pierresant! (pictured hear alongside the other 2017 finalists who were all outstanding!)
This year's team was chosen from the highest scoring individuals across the entire Louder Than A Bomb Massachusetts (LTABMA) Youth Poetry Slam festival produced by MassLEAP. Our annual festival brings together 300 youth from across the state to share their stories and support one another. On April 29th, they took the stage and competed to earn their spot on this year's team!
Brave New Voices is the international youth poetry slam festival where this summer, young, brilliant, creative minds from over 80 communities from around the world will converge to articulate their vision for what our world is, can and should be!
The team will have the honor of working with Mass LEAP Teaching Artist, Educator & 2014 Individual World Poetry Slam Champion Porsha Olayiwola, as well as Jonathan Mendoza, LTABMA alum & 2015 National Poetry Slam Champion.
We need your help in securing travel arrangements, registration fees, room & board, and making sure team members are fed and able to make regular practices! Every dollar helps more than you know!

$10-$50 "Breaking Fast"
You just bought breakfast for young people on the team for one day of the week long festival! Can't perform on an empty stomach!
$50 - $100 "Let's do lunch"
You've gone above and beyond to buy a lunch for the team during their long rehearsal sessions. BNV team members write & perform multi-voice work together.

$100 - $300 "California Roll"
We try to treat the team to one special bonding dinner before or during the festival, helping make their trip, a time to remember! Send us your twitter handle so we can shout you out!
$300 - $500 "Fly them forward"
You're helping take care of a pricey plane ticket! At the festival, these youth will not only compete in the poetry slam, but will take part in community panel discussions, specialty showcase mics and community service projects. Give us your t-shirt size and address!
$500 - $1000 "Registration is a thing!"
You just covered a significant portion of our registration fee which covers overnight lodging in San Francisco State University dorm rooms! Fair warning, we're probably going to write you a poem on the theme of your choice!
$1000+ Gone Platinum!
You are a certified hero. And we will gladly come to your backyard (or venue of your choice) to do a magical feature for you this summer! You've covered travel expsenses for these poets to get to rehearsals and performances in the months leading up to the festival! These young people will be travelling from across the state in some cases! Thank you SO MUCH! Leave your email and we’ll reach out about a summer performance.
