Magh Ene College Sports Facilites

2017 is the 25th anniversary of our school’s first
opening in 1992. This year we can look back with pride on what we have achieved since then with over 1,000 young people having completed their education with us.
A major part of the development of Magh Éne College has been our sports facilities. These are of great benefit both to the school and to the local community and they make a significant contribution to our children’s general well-being. The school also punches well above its weight in sport and we aim to build on our ongoing sporting successes into the future. It is important to continue developing our sports facilities with an athletics area being a priority.
Some of our sporting achievements since 2000:
U17 Boys’ Senior, U-16, U-14 & 1st yr. GAA County Championships
Girls’ Senior Basketball All-Ireland C Championship
Girls’ Senior 7s Rugby All-Ireland Finals
Girls’ Senior & U-16 Rugby County Championships
Girls’ Senior, U-16 & U-14 Girls C GAA County Championships
Several National Champions in Boxing, Karate, Athletics,
Gymnastics & Dancing
In 2006, we arranged a €600,000 loan with A I B to fund a full size sports hall and outdoor playing facilities. A local community group, Bradóg, Melvin, Drowes (BMD), was formed by parents and teachers to fund the loan. Over €475,000 has now been repaid through monies from Sports/Lottery grants, parents contributions, various fundraising events (Mayors Banquets, Fashion Shows & personal donations etc.) and rent received from use of facilities by community groups.
We now need your help to repay the balance of the loan (€125,000) so that we can continue to realise our students potential in the sports world.
Thanks in advance.
