Mr. NAACP
Donation protected
Hello My Name is Marcus McNeil and I am a 17 year old Madison High School student. I am currently running for the Title of Mr. NAACP in San Antonio, Texas. As a young African American male I have made a conscious decision to not only join the organization, but to become an integral member of NAACP Youth & College Division. The organization is responsible for thousands of NAACP youth members from around the nation rallying for continued equality for the next generation in the United States. Mr. NAACP has an opportunity to represent the organization in April 2015 at various Fiesta events, be a positive role model for local youth, and raise awareness of important service volunteer opportunities in the community.
I have spent my life serving others; at the age of 5 years old I volunteered at Any Baby Can raising money with art created by children for children in medical crisis. My beautiful sister Moriah started this annual event before she lost her battle with brain cancer when she was 9 years old and I was only 7 years old. Losing my sister instilled my need and desire to help others. Moriah's legacy of selflessness taught me to enjoy being a positive individual who shares joy whenever possible. As a teenager I have been selected to head several prominent community organizations as a leader and president. I take the responsibility as leader extremely serious and believe I have made a difference in many of my peer's lives, as they have made in mine.
I will be attending Southern Methodist University in July on a full athletic scholarship and as a Political Science major I would like to carry the honor and accomplishment of Mr. NAACP with me to SMU. As part of the process of becoming Mr. NAACP I have committed myself to raising $3,500 to aid the future of the organization. Your gracious donation will allow Youth Council members to attend our National Conference in Philadelphia in July 2015, contribute to multiple events and programs throughout the year, and promote financial, spiritual, and social enrichment for the youth of San Antonio.
