Many years ago Angie, a strong, independent, healthy woman contracted Lyme disease and did not have the classic symptoms .But she felt like she had a never ending flu, weak, tired and fatigued all the time. Finally after a few years she was diagnosed with Lymes Disease by two test. She couldn't work for 3 months but due to needing to support herself she went back to work and it was an excruciating four more years of intense pain, migraines, IBS, stabbing pains, cold extremities, Chronic fatigue, feeling like your joints are on fire and brain fog and so much more.
Angie went on to win many awards for her hard contributions advocating and providing services for people with Developmental Disabilities. She helped a man get all his teeth fixed free of charged, placed several people in homes of their own and feel independent. Started a Holiday funding for gifts to those who had no family, one man only asking for real coke and many for simple things in life. Most requests and other items for furniture, an AC and more she funded out of her own pocket. Angela always went above and beyond to help others as people would always tell her, "You cant save the world" but she tried.
She also was a big advocate for Pit Bulls, owning several and taking many in, paying for their vet bills in the hundreds and finding good homes for them. As Angie began to get progressively worse while raising 5 children in a blended family, she felt she could not keep up the hard work anymore and felt she was a dis-service to her clients and after a devastating divorce, she made the decision to resign from the job she loved so much. ( stress in Lyme disease makes it10x worse)
She tried to find easier work but the brain fog and short-term memory loss made it impossible to work at all and she had to get on disability. Angie became depressed, sometimes suicidal due to the pain she experienced 24/7. She stopped doing her hobbies of gardening , tending to farm animals, rescuing pit bulls, visiting friends, going out dancing and so much more. Angie felt as if she were just existing and not living anymore. After her 3 yr old said to her, "I will take care of you mommy, cause your sick." It changed her! She didn't want him growing up feeling he need to care for her when she should be caring for him. She decided to take charge and take back her life. Always an advocate...this time she would advocate against Chronic Lyme, a conversational Health topic.
Her plan is to seek treatment, what-ever it takes and knows it is expensive and NOT covered by health insurance due to controversies. She wants her life back and to get off disability and back to doing the work she loved to do. Angie has payed it forward for so many others, can you please now pay it forward for her? So she can get the treatment that's healed so many before her that could afford it?
