Happy Child School Kisumu, Kenya
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Nina, I'm 18 and currently studying for my A-levels. Last summer I visited Kisumu in Kenya where I volunteered at an orphanage for 2 weeks and visited numerous areas of Kisumu, I was touched by the degree of poverty and since have made it a priority of mine to do all I can to support another NGO. After researching I came across the Happy Child School, a school ran by a small charity called the Kisumu Multipurpose Center which was set up by Alfred Onyango in 2010.
The Happy Child School provides 66 orphans and disadvantaged children a primary education. The school is soley reliant on donations in order to pay the teachers salaries, provide the children with 2 meals a day- which they otherwise may not get and to provide all of the school equipment and childrens uniforms. Unfortnately as the school is not well known they regularly run out of funding and struggle to sustain the organisation- they only have one other main donor.
Since discovering Alfred's inspiring work my friends and I have set up some fundrasing events at our school including a cake sale, christmas jumper day, a sponsored silence and a band event in order to raise money. Although our events have been a success I aim to raise as much as possible before I hopefully visit this summer, thank you in advance for your support!
