ALCATRAZ SHARKFEST SWIM

Donation protected
My name is Martin Le-Roy and I always like a challenge, whether that be running a Marathon, competing in a Triathlon or swimming the Great North Swim in Lake Windemere, it was at Lake Windemere last year where I heard about the escape from Alcatraz swim, or Sharkfest, I did a little research and thought that looks challenging and not many people have actually done it so something to boast about, (as long as I survive it) ! so I booked it and now the planning and training begins. I also discused this with Lisa and Pete who are
co -founders of Autism Birmingham and who I know operate the charity and work extremely hard as they know first hand the challenges that caring for autistic children bring, as both their boys suffer with autism. So after discussing and agreeing that I will do  the swimming and training for the event they can handle the fund raising side of the project which they have agreed and as you will see on the following page they can describe in more detail all the fantastic work they put in to support the charity. The event takes place in San Francisco Harbour August 8th 2015 I will update my progress on a monthly basis. Thanks for taking the time to read this page and anything you can donate towards autism birmingham will go a long way to help families and children living with autism.

We set up Autism Birmingham in March 2013 as we had seen for ourselves the struggles that families have when trying to access funding for vital equipment like weighted blankets, safety equipment, sensory equipment etc. We raise funds through our two charity shops in Stirchley and Longbridge Birmingham. We have also put on special needs family fun days, taken children and their families to an executive match day experience at Birmingham City Football Club.

We are an approved "work experience" provider for young people with additional needs. We also provide valuable voluntary work experience opportunities for working age adults most of whom have a diagnosis of Autism. We have dreams and ambitions about what we want to achieve for children in Birmingham. None of what we do would be possible without supporters like Martin who work hard to raise vital funds for Autism Birmingham.

We receive NO government funds or grants unlike BIG charities.
