Association House AmeriCorps Team

Donation protected
Hello Friends,

We are asking for donations on behalf of the AmeriCorps team here at Association House of Chicago. Our AmeriCorps members work to enhance programs here at our social service agency in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago. Meet our team:

·Frank Westry & Jeremy Jacobson serve in El Cuarto Año High School tutoring and mentoring students.

·Crystal Reza & Linda Garcia serve in our Family Literacy Program where they provide early childhood education to children under five whose parents are enrolled in El Cuarto Año High School or are adult education learners. This program provides reliable care, educates and prepares children for preschool, and helps parents become their child’s first teachers.

·Mike Tyler and Xochitl Campos serve in our Adult Education (GED) program. Mike teaches math and science and has been instrumental in assisting us to develop a new curriculum. Xochitl tutors students in all subjects.

·Eddie Opio serves in our Technology Center where he teaches digital literacy classes to older adults and helps walk-in clients in our Open Lab with tasks like creating resumes, applying for jobs online, and creating email accounts.

·Markita Edwards serves in our Workforce Development program where she helps participants develop resumes, practice interviewing for positions, and practice their customer service skills.

Our team program is funded in by the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) and all funds collected will assist us to send 4 members to the NCLR Conference in Kansas City in July. The conference provides cutting-edge workshops that address critical issues in the community from speakers of national and international prominence. Our teams have been awarded 'Corps of the Year' at the conference for the past two years, and we are looking forward to a three-peat! Please consider donating, our team has worked hard this year to earn the opportunity to attend this conference.

Very Best Regards,
