Lollipops for London

     On October 23, 2013, the Suthmoore High school Marching Band received a very special invitation, one that would take them half way around the world- to London, England. On this morning, Queen Elizabeth's representative, the honorable Roger Bramble, presented Adam Mewhorter, the band director, and the rest of the Southmoore High School band with an official invitation to London, to perform in the 30th Anniversary New Years Day Parade in 2016.

(In relation to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the London's New Years Day Parade is about twice as large, with twice as many viewers.)

     With such a grand trip as this comes many expenses. In order to help alleviate some of the costs, Marissa and her family have started a creative donation fundraiser entitled Lollipops for London. She has been driving alll over the Moore/Norman metro area, placing three foot tall handcrafted lollipops in the yards of many, asking for a small donation. If the lollipop recipient chooses to donate, she offers to transport the yard ornaments to a location of their choosing.



     Whether or not you have experienced the lollipops first hand, all donations towards Marissa's trip are appreciated. She hopes to be able to raise enough money to travel and participate in the parade at the start of 2016.
