Please Help Fund Tim's Transplant

Donation protected
In the fall of 2013, Tim received a life changing diagnosis from his doctor - liver cirrhosis. Tim immediately made lifestyle changes that would lead to a healthier future. He quickly saw improvements in his liver functions and he lost a lot of extra weight. As if his overall health improvement was not enough to keep him on the right track, Tim and his wife, Krissy, found out that they were expecting a baby boy. Tyler was born in September of 2014, and everything seemed to be falling into place.

Around Thanksgiving of 2014, despite maintaining a healthy lifestyle, Tim received some lab results that were very concerning. Shortly thereafter he learned that his liver functions were declining quickly, and that he would need a liver transplant. Tim went through the transplant evaluation process and found out in early 2015 that he was placed on the transplant list for this region. No time frame was given for an available liver, and knowing that this region has a severe shortage of organs, Tim and his family prepared for the long road ahead.

As we approach the midpoint of 2015, unfortunately Tim is getting sicker and has been hospitalized many times. He consistently struggles with pain and very low energy levels. He has been unable to work to support his family and he has difficulty helping out at home with Krissy and Tyler. The state of his liver is also contributing to other health complications, all of which need to be addressed immediately by his healthcare team. He is required to make trips at least once a week to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, and since he is unable to drive he relies upon family members or taxis. The most frustrating part is that he may not be any closer to receiving a new liver than he was 6 months ago.

Tim and Krissy were recently advised by Tim's transplant team to look into being listed outside of New England for a transplant. Tim is currently scheduling appointments in Florida, where statistics show that his chances of receiving a new liver are much more promising.  If he does get listed he will have to relocate and receive all of his care in Florida until after the transplant.

The expenses related to Tim's health are very high and have added another layer of stress and uncertainty to an already difficult situation for Tim and Krissy. Many people have asked how they can help the family, so this page was created. The family currently struggles with meeting household and medical expenses, taxi rides to MGH, and day care for Tyler. Upon Tim's move to Florida, the financial situation will only become more burdensome. Hopefully this page will allow Tim and Krissy to focus more on Tim's health, transplant and recovery and less on their expenses.

Tim and Krissy have been strong and optimistic throughout this journey and are very appreciative of all of the support they've received so far. They hope and pray that this is just another one of life's hurdles, and that their family will return to normal as soon as Tim is granted a new liver.

Thank you for reading this, and for any contribution you are able to make. Please check this page for any updates regarding the status of Tim's health.
