Help Save Baby Levi's Life

Hi, everyone! We are continuously knocking on your good hearts to help our nephew, Baby Levi.

He was delivered via emergency C-section at only 26.4 weeks or 6 months age of gestation.

He has been in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) since January 2018 and has been developing well. He had an Ileostomy at only 3 weeks old and will need surgery very soon.

We set up this fundraising initiative to help raise at least Php Php 1,000,000.00 ($ 20,000.00) for his medical needs and hospital bills. His parents are currently behind on hospital bill payments. They likewise need help to fund Baby Levi's Ileostomy Repair Surgery as soon as doctors give the go signal. Please see the photo to see a glimpse of his prolapsed stoma.

MESSAGE FROM BABY LEVI'S PARENTS:

On January 28, 2018, Sunday, we had to deliver our first born baby boy, Levi Yohance, via Emergency C-Section due to uncontrolled premature labor and fetal malpresentation. He was only 26.4 weeks old (or only 6 months Age of Gestation). Weighing only 925 grams – barely a kilo – upon birth and with various medical concerns, Baby Levi has been in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for close to five months.

Due to his extreme prematurity and extremely low birth weight, Baby Levi continues to need specialized medical attention and treatment for various health concerns. At such a young, tender age, he needs to endure repeated tests, procedures, pricks, and prods. He was only three weeks old when he underwent a Percutaneous Drainage of the Abdomen, which was eventually followed by an Exploratory Laparotomy and Ileostomy.

A recent liver/biliary tree problem caught all of us off guard and held us back from continuous progress. He underwent a liver biopsy and results show that he has Neonatal Cholestasis due to Non-syndromic Bile Duct Paucity. This means he has difficulty processing bile because he either lacks or has underdeveloped bile ducts. While it is a rare condition, doctors say it does not need immediate surgery like Biliary Atresia. Nutritional and medical support could help resolve cholestasis in time. However, if there is intractable cholestasis, liver transplant is recommended.

As of this date, his hospital bills are piling faster than we can keep up with, at approximately Php 35,000.00 ($700.00) per day. Our savings have been depleted due to complications at childbirth that resulted in three procedures and two confinements within a span of only a month for Mommy. Our family has been soliciting funds through different efforts but we still need help in raising the Php 4.2 Million ($84,000.00) necessary to give Baby Levi the medical care he needs. Aside from his current hospital bills, he also needs to undergo an Ileostomy Closure/Repair Surgery as soon as doctors say he is stable and ready.

For this reason, we are desperately asking for your golden heart’s help in raising funds for our baby boy. We are way behind in hospital bill payments that now amount to Php 2.5 Million ($50,000.00). This does not even include doctors' fees yet.

Any financial assistance you can share will most certainly help us.

Through all the pain and the despite all the procedures he needs to undergo, Baby Levi has been a strong, little warrior! Thus earning the monicker #LeviLittleLionheart. Please help us give him a fighting chance to survive and live a happy, normal life as a healthy baby boy.
