10 days ago I received a message off my best friend, Jenny, who had been made aware of this little lad's story and wanted to help.
Daniel is a local little lad aged 11 years whose life turned upside down on November 18th, 2016. Dan's Mum, Jo, picked Daniel up from school and his face was different, no longer symmetrical. Dan was unable to smile or move his eyes from side to side and one side of his face had dropped. Initial diagnosis was Bells Palsy, but a follow up appointment a week later revealed that Dan infact had a brain tumour which was pressing against the nerves attached to Dan's face. Dan had the tumour removed on 29th November by surgery that lasted 7.5 hours. Yet more devastating news followed on 5th December when Jo was told that the cancer had spread and Dan now had lymphoma in his brain.
Daniel has now started a 7 course cycle of chemotherapy which is due to end in June this year. Dan has this treatment twice a week and it's had horrific side effects.
So what are we doing? We're trying to raise money to get Dan to Disney once his chemotherapy has finished! We are doing this by cycling to Newcastle where Dan is receiving treatment over the Easter weekend. This is mammoth for Jenny and I as we really can't remember the last time we even got on a bike! Please help to support our Oldham Superhero and let's get Dan to Disney!
