Help LaVan Dream Chase in Australia

I am LaVan Anderson, a Photographer based in Washington, DC, currently chasing my dream across the globe. I love documenting music artists' stories, to preserve the culture. I think it is important to be able to reflect back on valuable moments in your journey through life. 


Later this year, I hope to continue chasing my dream as it goes down under, to Australia and New Zealand, for the Soulfest Music Festival, capturing photos and video.

NOTE: The trip requires 4 flights to be able to follow the Soulfest festival, as it takes place on 3 days, in 3 different locations. ***USA to Sydney, Sydney to Melbourne, Melbourne to New Zealand, New Zealand to USA.

I covered a lot of last year's festival performances, while I was touring with singer Anthony Hamilton. This year, he's not performing at the festival, so I need help getting there.

This year I am very eager to turn my camera on everyone that hits that stage, as well as document the unseen moments, behind the scenes. Such as this viral favorite of Anthony Hamilton singing, "P.O.P., Hold It Down", which I captured in the dressing room last year, in Melbourne, Australia. This was a candid moment of Anthony and the band joking around. ***click to play video.

Here's a piece of performance footage, of Common performing in Auckland, New Zealand, and Mos Drf walks out on stage to join him. A classic moment in hip-hop history. 


I am anxious to take this one man adventure down under, documenting and recapping the concert and the performing artists, as well as my daily encounters, and my interactions with the people of Australia and New Zealand, through my blog and social media.

In addition to the Soulfest content, I will also be shooting a number of naturalistas and beardsmen, while there. If you follow my normal tour photography, I always try to shoot locals in each city I visit.
