Mikey's Trip To Recovery

Hello, My name is LaTia Colston and i am a freshman at Rose State College. In the picture above is my mom and one of my brothers. There are four of us in the home and my mom does everything she can to provide for us. Like any one, we are not the perfect family but we try our best to stick together. Monday, January 26th my brother (in the picture) was involved in a accident that left him stabbed three times. His spleen, diphram, liver, & left lung was hit. When he went to surgery the nurses informed us he had lost too much blood and  they couldnt find were the bleeding was coming from so we were sure if he would make it. Contrary to what we thought, he made it out of that surgery and was in the intensive care unit in a medically induced coma. He woke up around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday morning and was transported to a regular room on the Trama floor to be watched over. We thought he was doing ok until today (Monday, Feburary 2,2015) the doctor informed us that he had accumliating blood  in his partial collasped lung and that they needed to get it out in order for him to recover quickly. His is supposed to go into surgery tomorrow afternoon and may need a blood transfusion. He has been playing football since he was 6 and he just recently committed to Langston University. Unfortunately he wont be able to go to his high school to sign his paper but the coach is bringing the paperwork to the hospital for him to still be able to attend. The doctor said he will lose some muscle buy being injured but if they get this surgery done he will be back to normal by August with some hard work. We are really trying to get out of the city that we live in because there has really been nothing but bad luck over our family since we moved here. My mom wants to move to take care of us and too be a little closer to my brother when he leaves for college because if he recovers properly this will truly be a blessing to see him be able to continue his dreams of playing football since he thinks it wont happen anymore. We want to be able to give the best memories of his live by sending him to his senior prom and most importantly we want to see him walk across the stage in May. Seeing him come so close to death opened our eyes to alot of things and we really just need a new start to life. As he lays here sleep in this bed, i pray that he heals properly and they we get help to get through this and get a fresh start on life. $1 is our goal because anything will thing will help. Thanks.
