Help our schools discover Aquileia

We are preparing for the first time ever an Exhibition of Aquileia The Great Lost city that will be shown at the Royal Geographical Society in London from 6 March - End of May 2015.
This is an Educational and Cultural Exhibition whose primary objective is to attract and engage our schoolchildren and students.
Please help us in achieving this aim, as culture and education is so very important in our daily lives and your children would be delighted at the opportunity of coming to see this free exhibition at the Royal Geographical Society. Aquileia has helped shape the modern world as we know it for so many reasons.
We are relying on the generosity of sponsors and private donors to help us reach our target figure of £70,000. We have reached £25,000 and still require a further £45,000. We would like to thank all of you who have kindly made donations so far.
Aquileia was destroyed by Atilla in 452AD and it is almost unknown in the English speaking world.
It was regarded as the "Second Rome" in the Republican
period, and it was crucial to the creation of the Roman Empire and to its defence and well being.
Aquileia was rich, it was beautiful, its buildings were grand and Imperial and it was the place to be.
Its port was second to the port of Ostia in Rome, its baths paid for by Emperor Constantine were almost as impressive as the Caracalla baths in Rome. It was the heart and centre from which  Christianity spread through medieval Europe and into Britain. This is one of the many inspiring features of Aquilea.
Entrance to the Exhibition is free and all are welcome.
Opening Times: Daily 10-5pm, Closed Sunday.
Donors who give more than £50 will receive a free invitation card for the VIP Opening ceremony on the
5 March, at 7.30pm  for an exclusive preview. All donors will receive a free lapel badge of Emperor Constantines Labarum.
It is a Unesco World heritage site and the most complete example of an early Roman city in the mediterranean world. Most of Aquileia remains beneath the ground and unexcavated.
