Sena's last season with Blue Devils

My name is Senapati A. Narottama / Sena.
I have been involved in the marching arts since I was a 4th grader in elementary school. I started to join my school’s marching band (Bahana Cendana Kartika) back in 2004 and I immediately fell in love with the activity. I’ve had many great seasons with my school’s band throughout middle and high school.
As a normal band kid in Indonesia, I could only follow this activity through internet. Seeing pictures, watching YouTube videos, and reading posts were the only things that I could do. Having to experience DCI live just seems impossible, let alone march a corps. I couldn’t even dream to be a part of any drum corps in DCI until Blue Devils came to Malaysia in 2011 and changed me. In that three-day camp, just by standing next to them, talking and being taught by the members & staff felt surreal for me. Looking at their confidence, style and how they carry themselves, I knew I wanted to be one of them someday.
Today, I am a Blue Devil and this is going to be my 3rd year marching. There has been a lot of hard work and sacrifices that I did to make my dream happen. In late 2014, I left my family & my country to study in United States. I made this decision so I could march my 2015 season without having to spend thousands of dollars just to come for camps. I was able to gain help from a number of people and I had a fantastic rookie year with the A corps. 2016 was a rough year for me because I got deported from the country, which was not nearly my fault, and that made me lose a lot of money. I spent nearly $5700 just for flights to camps which I could’ve saved a lot if I were to stay in the country and it wasn't easy to gather that much money. Now that 2016 is in the books, I am now back in the States to start school and to march again. With the college tuition getting higher each year especially for international students, and having to pay for Blue Devils tuition fee, plus my travel expenses, your consideration to donate would be greatly appriciated.
I am very thankful and lucky that I get to be a part of this amazing organization for almost 6 years. I still can’t believe that this upcoming season is going to be my last since 2017 is my age out year. Your donation could really help me to get back to the field and perform again with the Blue Devils for the last time.
